About Monique
Monique Kaldy was born, raised, and educated in California, where she built a strong foundation for her future endeavors. She is the proud daughter of a U.S. Marine and California Fallen Firefighter. She has been a military and law enforcement spouse, single mother, remarried, and raised a blended family. Adversity taught her perseverance, and she aimed to succeed.
Monique Kaldy completed her college education in California, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton, Associate in Arts Degrees in Paralegal Studies and Spanish from Cerritos College. This diverse education gives insight to the community.
For twenty-three years, Monique pursued her passion for law, working as a litigation paralegal specializing in complex litigation. Her experience taught her the importance of seeking facts, expert opinions, and applying the law to each individual case. This has shaped her belief in gathering public opinion and relying on expert information to find resolutions to complex issues.
Monique and her family moved to Monterey just over three years ago. Monique became active in the community by volunteering with the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. She has seen significant changes in the city's operations, including a lack of fiscal responsibility, failure to genuinely consider the public’s concerns, and struggle to move Monterey forward with finding a permanent resolution to water scarcity. Monterey deserves a mayor who will gain understanding and find a resolution from diverse points of view. Monterey deserves a better choice.
Monique is dedicated to maintaining Monterey’s historical character while improving public safety and housing accessibility. She believes in bringing opposing sides together to find common ground, listening carefully to ensure all voices are heard and considered.
She stays connected with residents and business owners, listening to their celebrations and struggles, believing that genuine connections are the foundation of true understanding. Monique’s approach to governance is unique because she enters politics without an agenda, focusing instead on solving the city's most complex issues. She rejects the "us vs. them" mentality and believes working together is the key to a better Monterey for everyone.
Outside of her professional life, Monique enjoys outdoor activities with friends and family, including golfing, bike riding, warm-water SCUBA diving, and hiking.
